Welcome To Unity Chapel
Built in 1886 by, and for, the descendants of Richard and Mary Lloyd-Jones, Unity Chapel is a living testament to the simple and contemplative lives our ancestors created for themselves in the New World.
A Historic Landmark In Spring Green, Wisconsin
In 1844, the Lloyd-Jones family, Unitarians seeking religious freedom, immigrated from Wales to America. After settling in rural Wisconsin in the mid-1860s, they built Unity Chapel in 1886. This small family chapel, designed by Joseph Lyman Silsbee and a young Frank Lloyd Wright, served as a worship center, community meeting place, and school.
Over the years, the Lloyd-Jones family's legacy expanded. Their son, Jenkin Lloyd Jones, became a prominent minister, and their daughters founded Hillside Home School. Wright designed several structures for the school, including the stone schoolhouse and the Romeo and Juliet windmill.
Today, Unity Chapel continues to serve as a place of worship, community gatherings, and reflection, and is available to rent for weddings and events year-round.
